Press Release – July 7, 2009For immediate release - ShipOnSite - North Carolina’s eBay, Office and Shipping Center; with its Corporate Offices in Wake Forest, NC is proud to announce a new location and new proto-type to its growing roster. ShipOnSite of Downtown Raleigh is now open at 420 Fayetteville Street in the Sheraton Hotel Lobby. This is a new business venture for two Wake Forest families who were familiar with the ShipOnSite business model located near their homes. John Brewer, the President of ShipOnSite, Phil and Kathy Kotecki and Tom and Ellen Stephenson discussed the possibility of putting a ShipOnSite in the lobby of the Sheraton after Larry Jones, the manager of the Sheraton, expressed interest in the business model. Larry, a long time customer of the ShipOnSite in Wake Forest mentioned to John and Kathy Brewer that he thought a smaller version of the ShipOnSite model would be an asset to his hotel. And the rest is, as they say, “history”. Phil and Tom plan to shape this new business model and market it to the rest of the country as Master Developers for ShipOnSite. “We strongly believe that this is a niche that can be filled in most cities across America” states Phil. Phil Kotecki was an executive with UPS for 30 years and brings vast knowledge of the shipping business to this new business venture. Tom Stephenson has been in the high tech software industry for over 20 years with senior executive roles encompassing Sales, Business Development and Marketing at Computer Associates and most recently with several new start-up firms. Tom is excited to market this concept in Raleigh and then continue with other major cities in the U.S.
ShipOnSite Downtown Raleigh will cater to a vast range of customers, including Wake County residents who live and/or work in Downtown Raleigh, Sheraton Hotel guests and Convention visitors and vendors. Ellen Bass Stephenson grew up in a family owned business in Eastern North Carolina and has worked in the Human Services field in Wake County. Ellen has contracted North Carolina branded items for out of town guest looking for gifts and memorabilia from Raleigh and North Carolina. On hand will also be those “forgotten travel items” for the business executive; such as shirts and ties for men, computer accessories including USB drives and printing capabilities for reports and presentations. Another asset will be the ability to ship luggage for guests. With new airline fees, this will be a service that can help ease the stress of travel. ShipOnSite of Downtown Raleigh will also offer eBay Trading Assistance that ShipOnSite is so well known for. They plan to cater to businesses in the surrounding area that are upgrading systems and need a place to turn their older systems into “cash”. EBay Trading Assistance has not been offered to the Raleigh Downtown market in the past. Now business and individuals working Downtown can turn their unwanted and un-needed items into cash – another way to recycle and GO GREEN!
John and Kathy Brewer, founders of ShipOnSite, Inc. are extremely proud of this new business model. In these harsh economic times, there is no place they’d rather be than in the service industry. Having come from both retail and restaurant backgrounds, John and Kathy vowed that their next business venture would be service related. Service businesses, in their opinion, can weather economic ups and downs more easily. The ShipOnSite business model was developed as a turnkey business to give owners more freedom than with a typical franchise. With smaller space in a Downtown Market, John and Kathy are excited to help the Kotecki’s and Stephenson’s grow this new ShipOnSite model nationwide. New ShipOnSite owners can benefit from hands on training experience in Wake Forest as well as on-line training.
ShipOnSite provides something unique to their new operators - ShipOnSite University. ShipOnSite University is a web-based training program to teach new store owners about ShipOnSite’s unique business services while their new locations are under construction. Each ShipOnSite location offers traditional packaging and shipping services as well as eBay Trading Assistant services. ShipOnSite has created quite a niche in the industry by allowing store owners the freedom to add services to its already successful business model. Each ShipOnSite can individualize their stores to fit the needs of their community as this new model does for the Downtown community.
At ShipOnSite of Wake Forest, home of the corporate offices, all new programs are tested and implemented. “Here at our store, we have helped many businesses and individuals in the Wake Forest and surrounding communities turn their unneeded and unwanted items into cash by selling these items on eBay”, says Kathy Brewer. “We have sold medical equipment, close out inventory, and overstock items for several businesses who have loved getting that check in the mail for inventory that they just couldn’t move. We recently helped one family find new homes for many of their deceased parent’s items that they could not personally find a use for”. “It is a very gratifying to know that you are genuinely helping people.” adds Kathy.
